Feel free to customize it to your liking!<\/p>\n<h2>What is bulletproof coffee?<\/h2>\n<p>Bulletproof coffee has been known to be called &#8220;butter coffee&#8221;, and that&#8217;s because most bulletproof coffee recipes include some type of grass-fed butter or ghee. The purpose of bulletproof coffee is to make it filling, so that you can drink it first thing in the morning and ward off hunger.<\/p>\n<p>Many people who participate in some type of intermittent fasting rely on bulletproof coffee to get them through the morning, saying it provides them with more energy and focus than traditional coffee with milk.<\/p>\n<p>As I mentioned above, there are many ways to make bulletproof coffee &#8212; I&#8217;ll provide substitutions and variations below &#8212; but this is MY favorite way to make it.<\/p>\n<h2>Recipe features<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A delicious and filling way to drink your coffee\/start the day<\/li>\n<li>Paleo + keto-friendly<\/li>\n<li>Easy to prep ahead of time (i.e. the night before)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25119\" src=\"https:\/\/thealmondeater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Iced-Bulletproof-Coffee-ingredients.png\" alt=\"Bulletproof Coffee ingredients\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1800\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thealmondeater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Iced-Bulletproof-Coffee-ingredients.png 1200w, https:\/\/thealmondeater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Iced-Bulletproof-Coffee-ingredients-400x600.png 400w, https:\/\/thealmondeater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Iced-Bulletproof-Coffee-ingredients-200x300.png 200w, https:\/\/thealmondeater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Iced-Bulletproof-Coffee-ingredients-683x1024.png 683w, https:\/\/thealmondeater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Iced-Bulletproof-Coffee-ingredients-768x1152.png 768w, https:\/\/thealmondeater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Iced-Bulletproof-Coffee-ingredients-1024x1536.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Ingredient notes<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Cold brew &#8211;<\/strong> <a title=\"Homemade Cold Brew Coffee\" href=\"https:\/\/thealmondeater.com\/homemade-cold-brew-coffee\/\" rel=\"\">homemade<\/a> or store-bought<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ghee &#8211;<\/strong> or sub grass-fed butter (like Kerrygold)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Collagen &#8211;<\/strong> preferably plain, unflavored<\/p>\n<p><strong>Milk &#8211;<\/strong> Ok so *technically* I&#8217;m not sure &#8220;milk&#8221; is part of traditional bulletproof coffee, but let&#8217;s be honest, cold brew + a few splashes of milk is the way to go. If you want to keep this Paleo, just be sure to use dairy free milk, or omit the milk altogether.<\/p>\n<h2>Step-by-step instructions<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Step 1: Heat the coffee.<\/strong> In order to prevent the butter\/ghee from clumping, we have to heat the coffee up a bit. I know it&#8217;s confusing because it&#8217;s iced, but trust me on this! Personally, I like adding a little almond\/oat\/coconut milk because it makes it a bit creamier.<\/p>\n<h3>Optional add-ins:<\/h3>\n<p>Want to jazz up your iced coffee? Try adding one of these *fancy* ingredients to the blender:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Peanut butter:<\/strong> 1-2 tbsp (resembles my favorite <a title=\"Peanut Butter Espresso Smoothie\" href=\"https:\/\/thealmondeater.com\/peanut-butter-espresso-smoothie\/\" rel=\"\">peanut butter espresso smoothie<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cacao powder:<\/strong> 2 tsp + 1-2 tsp sweetener (like monk fruit) &#8212; if adding cacao, add it to the saucepan with the other coffee ingredients until it dissolves,<em> then<\/em> add it to the blender<\/li>\n<li><strong>Peppermint extract:<\/strong> 1\/4 tsp + 2 tsp cacao powder (for an iced peppermint mocha)<\/li>\n<li><strong>MCT oil:<\/strong> 1 tsp (can be added to any of the above combinations, or on its own)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25123\" src=\"https:\/\/thealmondeater.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Iced-Bulletproof-Coffee-1-6.jpg\" alt=\"A cup of iced coffee\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1800\" data-pin-description=\"ICED BULLETPROOF COFFEE!
