All you need are gluten-free rolled oats and a blender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sugar<\/strong> &#8211; White sugar or cane sugar sweetens the cake. Coconut sugar should work as an alternative but it might make the cake slightly drier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Applesauce<\/strong> &#8211; Use unsweetened applesauce if you can! It adds moisture to the cake without needing butter, oil, or extra eggs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Blueberries<\/strong> &#8211; Fresh juicy blueberries are baked right into the cake, adding bursts of berrylicious flavors to every bite. Frozen blueberries will cool down the batter and require the cake to be baked longer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If frozen blueberries are all you have, go ahead and use them as a substitute. No thawing needed\u2014just fold the frozen berries directly into the batter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-does-this-recipe-work-with-another-flour\">Does this recipe work with another flour?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve only tested this recipe with oat flour and love it most for this cake because it lends a light and airy crumb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t have oat flour on hand (or don\u2019t want to make it yourself), try using all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, or an all-purpose gluten-free flour blend instead. Oat flour is lighter than these flours, which means you\u2019ll need to use less all-purpose flour for this recipe (instead of 2 cups of oat flour, experiment with using 1 \u2154 cups of an alternative flour).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-storage\">Storage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Room temperature<\/strong>: The decorated cake will keep for up to 3 days on the kitchen counter.
