These Hibiscus Margaritas can be made with just THREE ingredients and are incredibly refreshing!Ā

Hibiscus Margaritas that require just 3 ingredients!

Hibiscus margaritas?! YUP. I was a bit skeptical myself—I like hibiscus tea, but I wondered if it would mix well with tequila. Turns out, it does! Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo, so I KNOW you’re celebrating either tonight or tomorrow—if you’re looking for more inspiration, be sure to check out the hashtag #margaritaweek on Instagram.Ā

Unfortunately for me, I won’t be doing much celebrating this year. See, Miguel’s running the Pittsburgh marathon tomorrow, meaning today is all about hydrating with water, not drinking alcohol. So please, have a drink for me! I’m begging you.Ā

HIBISCUS MARGARITA INGREDIENTS

  • brewed hibiscus tea
  • tequila
  • lime juice

Yes you read that correctly—this margarita recipe calls for just THREE ingredients!! My fave.Ā

HOW TO MAKE HIBISCUS MARGARITAS

Buy the ingredients: Ok this is kind of obvious, but I’m guessing you maybe might not have hibiscus tea on hand? I’m not a big tea drinker, but if I had to choose hibiscus tea would be tied with chai tea as my favorite. Ā It’s slightly fruity tasting and refreshing too. I’ve tried a few different brands and they’ve all tasted similar in my opinion, so any kind you can find works in this recipe. As far as tequila goes, my favorites are Espolon and Altos Tequila.

Brew the tea: This recipe requires you to think ahead, but I swear it’s worth it. Start by brewing the tea over the stovetop as you normally would, then strain it and place it in the refrigerator to cool. Once it’s cool, then it’ll be ready to use in margaritas.Ā

Mix it all up: Of course, the most important step is mixing everything together. I like using a cocktail shaker for this, but you can also just pour everything into a jar with a lid and mix it that way, or pour it into a bowl and whisk it really fast with a whisk (yes I’ve literally done this before—not ideal, but it works!).Ā
