  • The combination of creamy peanut butter, tangy Greek yogurt, and a touch of sweetness results in a smooth and indulgent dip that both kids and adults find irresistible.
  • It pairs perfectly with practically anything your sweet tooth desires, making it a wonderful snack to bring to a party, potluck, or get-together.

Ingredients

Ingredients on a table; vanilla, peanut butter, greek yogurt, and sugar

Peanut butter – The best type of peanut butter to use is salted, creamy peanut butter. Almond butter can be substituted for those with peanut allergies or for a simple flavor change.

Greek yogurt – It adds creaminess and tanginess while boosting the dip’s protein content. Opt for plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt to control the sweetness of the dip.

Sugar – To sweeten the dip, of course! You can use granulated sugar, powdered sugar, or natural sweeteners, like honey or maple syrup.

Vanilla – Use pure vanilla extract for the best flavor.

Milk – A splash of milk will help you adjust the consistency of the dip.

Tips and FAQs

  • I find that natural, creamy peanut butter without added sugars or oils results in the best flavor and texture. If using unsalted peanut butter, blend ⅛ teaspoon of salt into the dip.
  • Is the dip too thick? You can thin it by blending in a splash of milk at a time until it reaches your preferred thickness.
  • If it’s too thin, thicken the dip with more peanut butter or Greek yogurt.

My Pro Tip

Recipe Tip

I highly recommend refrigerating the peanut butter yogurt dip for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together and the dip to thicken slightly.

Variations

  • Flavor extracts – Mix and match the vanilla extract with other flavors, such as almond, coconut, or maple extract. Remember, a little extract goes a long way!
  • Dessert spices – For a hint of warmth, add a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or pumpkin pie spice.
  • Extra indulgence – Swirl in melted chocolate, healthy caramel sauce, or Nutella for a decadent flavor boost.
  • Nutty mix-ins – Stir in chopped peanuts, almonds, or pecans for added crunch.
  • Sweet and salty – For a delightful contrast, mix in mini chocolate chips, toffee bits, crispy rice cereal, grain-free granola, or crushed pretzels.
  • Cream cheese peanut butter dip – Consider using cream cheese instead of Greek yogurt for a richer and creamier texture.

Serving suggestions

Deciding what to dip in this peanut butter dip is the hardest part of the whole recipe! Here are my picks:

Can I make this peanut butter dip dairy-free?

To make a dairy-free version, substitute dairy-free Greek yogurt and adjust the consistency with non-dairy milk, like almond, coconut, soy, or oat milk.

Can I use crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy?

Sure! Just know that the texture of your dip will be slightly different, with tiny bits of crunchy peanuts throughout.

Can I make this peanut butter dip ahead of time?

Yes, you can make the dip up to 1 week ahead of serving. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator, then let it sit at room temperature before serving so it can soften slightly.

Storage

Refrigerator: Transfer any leftover peanut butter apple dip to an airtight container and store it in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Freezer: You technically can freeze peanut butter dip, but know that the ingredients may separate or become grainy upon thawing. If you do choose to freeze it, store it in an airtight container and thaw it in the refrigerator overnight before serving. Give it a good stir to recombine any separated ingredients.
